West Valley City—SilencerCo, the nation’s leading designer and manufacturer of firearm suppressors, announced a change in company leadership effective January 3, 2018. Joshua Waldron will step down from his CEO position, and Jonathon Shults will step down from his role as President. Co-founded in a garage in 2008 by Waldron and Shults, SilencerCo has grown to be an industry leader, controlling the majority of sales of firearm suppressors and related accessories. The company has garnered the attention of gun enthusiasts, the business community, and even lawmakers, as Waldron and Shults, and hundreds of dedicated employees, have worked together to perfect their trade while also effecting social awareness of gun rights. Waldron will continue his relationship with SilencerCo as Senior Advocacy Advisor, where he will focus his energy on firearm legislative advocacy, an area in which he excels. Shults will assume a new role as SilencerCo Chief Operating Officer, where he will oversee day-to-day operations and remain heavily involved in his areas of expertise, including R&D and product innovation. Both Waldron and Shults will serve on the SilencerCo Board to stay involved with the overall direction of the company. They each remain the company’s two largest equity holders. The SilencerCo Board is currently engaged in a search for a CEO and will make an announcement regarding this position as soon as it has been filled.

Spanish Fork—Castle & Cooke Mortgage, LLC, one of the nation’s leading independent mortgage lenders with locations across the United States, has expanded its footprint in Utah with the opening of its Spanish Fork branch. The new office is led by area local and branch manager Julie Crow, who has 23 years of experience in the mortgage industry and understands the housing needs of the area well. Prior to joining Castle & Cooke Mortgage, Crow was a branch manager for Primary Residential Mortgage. Through her years of experience, Crow has developed an extensive knowledge of loan programs, acquired excellent customer service and has created long-lasting relationships with her clients. She understands that communication is the key to success and she makes it a priority to listen to the needs of her customers and keep them informed of the loan process every step of the way.

Salt Lake City—Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors (CBC Advisors) announced that economic development veteran Randy Sant has joined Advisors Consulting Services. Sant will work from CBC Advisors’ 111 Main office in downtown Salt Lake City and directly with Lew Cramer, CEO of CBC Advisors, and Todd Brightwell, president of Advisors Consulting Services. For the last 25 years, Sant has served as the owner of a private economic development firm, RS Contract Management, specializing in economic development strategy, lobbying and consulting services to local governments. During his career, Sant has been a city manager for the communities of Washington Terrace and Roy City. He has also served as the Weber County Economic Development Director, Sandy City Economic Director as well as a senior project coordinator for the Ogden City Redevelopment Agency. Sant has been a project leader on a number of economic development projects within the State of Utah, including the planning and development of the Business Depot in Ogden, the redevelopment of the Historical 25th street in Ogden, creation of the Utah Industrial Business Park in Tooele, and the Rio Tinto Soccer Stadium in Sandy. Currently, Randy serves as the economic director and consultant to Tooele City, Tooele County and South Salt Lake City. Advisors Consulting Services will add resources to these current assignments.

Sandy—David S. Layton, President and CEO of Layton Construction, announced that Bob Maxwell has joined the company as Executive Vice President for Business Development. Maxwell formerly served as a Partner and Senior Vice President for Business Development at Level 10 Construction, headquartered in Silicon Valley. Layton Construction, one of the largest general contractors in the U.S., has completed projects in 40 states and has offices in Irvine, San Jose, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Boise, Orlando, Nashville, and two offices in Hawaii, located in Honolulu and Lihue. Layton Construction currently works extensively in the areas of healthcare, hospitality, retail, entertainment, warehouse and distribution and commercial offices. Maxwell will use his expertise and experience to expand opportunities for Layton Construction within California, growing the Northern California region as well as focusing on Southern California and the Los Angeles/Irvine/San Diego area. Layton Construction’s recent projects in California include the Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point; The Outlets at San Clemente, San Clemente; Loma Linda University Medical Center, Murrieta; Courtyard by Marriott, Sunnyvale; and the Maple Street Correctional Center, Redwood City.
